Google Has a New ‘Preferred Sources’ Feature—Here’s How to Add The Debrief and Never Miss the Latest Science and Tech News

News junkies rejoice… Google recently introduced a new “preferred sources” feature, which enables readers to pick their favorite news sources and ensure that they are prioritized in the Top Stories area on Google News.

The feature, which the company rolled out on August 12, allows users to select sources that appear in their news experience based on personal preferences.

Using this feature, any time our readers search for a specific keyword or term (such as “dark energy,” for example) using the Google News search engine, you’ll see all the latest news about that subject from The Debrief, along with stories from other news sites.

According to a post at Google’s The Keyword blog in August, “When you select your preferred sources, you’ll start to see more of their articles prominently displayed within Top Stories, when those sources have published fresh and relevant content for your search.”

The same can be applied to any news website a user may wish to select as one of their preferred sources.

How to Add The Debrief as a Preferred Source

Adding The Debrief to your preferred sources on Google News is easy. You can simply follow this link, or use the steps below:

    • While you’re searching for a topic on Google News, click the icon that appears to the right of “Top Stories.”
    • Search for your “preferred sources,” then type “The Debrief,” and be sure to click the box to the right of the name and logo under the search box when it appears.
    • After you refresh the search results, you will begin to see more news from The Debrief on the latest science and technology stories.

Google says news sites added to your preferred sources will “appear more frequently in Top Stories or in a dedicated ‘From your sources’ section on the search results page,” along with content from other websites that naturally appears as trending news.

For additional information on adding your preferred sources, you can check out the original blog post featured at The Keyword.
