“The Debrief is in a class of its own. It’s a news website that caters to people who know that science and technology don’t sit still, and that the dreamers are the ones who actually have the creativity to think outside the box to formulate new ideas. This podcast is born out of The Debrief’s desire to tell those people’s stories,” says host, journalist, and co-founder of The Debrief MJ Banias.
Joining Banias (and generally shoving him off the Captain’s chair) is Stephanie Gerk, a journalist and writer specializing in pop culture, science fiction, comic books, and video games.
“It’s hard to say no to a fellow Star Trek fan when it comes to collaboration. Harder still, when the collaboration includes the latest scientific discoveries, technological advances, and the furthering of human advancement into space. It was a simple ‘Yes’ once it was confirmed I could bring my humour and nerd references to a weekly podcast covering these topics,” says host and journalist Stephanie Gerk. “Even better that I get to do it with a co-host who’s almost as funny as I am. This podcast is a creative project to bring listeners up to date of the science and tech world in a way that’s approachable and laid back.”
The first episode, which dropped on Friday, January 27th, covers dead crabs that keep mysteriously twitching in the UK, Krypton-powered propulsion for space travel, and the essential cosmic question: will humanity find life somewhere else in our solar system this century?
The Debrief Weekly Report can be streamed on all podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
